"We don't play on the stage like a job or as a work, performing is our passion for everybody in our band. We don't take any pressure we just go out there on the stage, do our crazy things and enjoy the time given to us to be on the stage, at least something should be done at a particular concert to be remembered and talked about later after years and years and years and year’s." Prashant Sharma Dhakal (Frontman Ful'Stop)
We had a short talk with Prashant from Ful'Stop. They are one of the powerhouse of the Nepalese Underground Scene. A few weeks back we had Prashant regarding Ful'Stop and as well as regarding their upcoming Debut Album which is hopefully to be released by the mid of 2015. You can hear there track from our last release that we had in September.
Here you go
Now proceeding with the interview.
Greetings Prashant, How are your days going these days?
Great man.
So, I heard that Fullstop is in
studio tell us about your progression?
Yes we
are in the studio, working for our debut album. Its been a long time since we
have started it, I guess 5-6 months, we are including total of 7 or 8 songs for
the album, tracks of 3 of them is ready for the vocals take, personal issues,
lack of time, load shedding, that is why we are unable to complete it soon,
hopefully within 3 months the album will be ready and out in the market for
fans. Hell yeah.
Well pretty excited about the
release. If i am not wrong Sandeep Tuladhar is producing the album?
He is
an extra ordinary man with crazy guitar skills and many crazy ideas about
arranging, recording every fucking thing, he is a GEM. He has supported us till
now with his full efforts, all hail X-MANTRA (old school) Sandeep Tuladhar is
our man for the job.
For sure he is. Alright Prashant
proceeding ahead tell us how did the band Fullstop’s journey begin?
Well
it was a school boy’s dream for me and the guitarist of the band Atit Risal, we
are here together from class 4 till now, I used to be a groupie in the other
band of guys called Amadeus, personal issues led the band to break up, Atit Risal
the guitarist from the band convinced me to sing for the new band which wasn't
named yet, Yes I did join him then we searched for a drummer we found Robortson
Pradhan then Bishal used to play for the band as the bassist, we did 3 or 4
shows together Tribute to dimebag Darrell 1st, 7th icmc , after that Atit the
guitarist went abroad for his studies, his legacy was continued by his brother
Satish Risal, things changed Bishal the bassist left the band then we did an
audition and found Sunny Pujari as our new bassist, we practiced a lot, a
fucking lot, that is when we started, never looked back and keep on thrashing
ahead, later at summer fest both of the guitarist played for Fullstop, 5 men
are marching forward till then. Fullstop was formed in 2009 due to the efforts
of our beloved uncle Binit Sharma and his house as the practise room of ours.
Hmm as
far as i know you guys even won the best guitarist during the ICMC?
Ya Satish Risal was the best guitarist of the
competition and we secured 2nd position among 35 bands of Nepal .
I was not in town during that
phase of ICMC but got some good feedback about the band. I am a bit curious
about the band name. How did you guys came with the name?
ICMC
was a strange competition for us regarding with the line up that we played in
both rounds, the prelims and the finals, the line up was to be made by picking
up the draw, at the prelims we picked up the draw at first we got the 1st
position and in the finals we didn't pick up the draw the last draw left would
be us hahaha and yes again it was us playing in the first position once again,
though we also wished to be the first on the competition as luck was only
giving us the number one's haha .The second place was not bad we had some good
time on ICMC. The band name fullstop was a random name, 3 of our band members
were just sitting drinking and all and our drummer Robert got the name
purnabiram at first we translated it into English and boom, after that we all
agreed to the name fullstop.
I witnessed you guys for the 1st
time in Summer Festival you guys gave a memorable slot.
Summerfest
was fun, playing for a huge audience is always fun. We did what we do best at
the stage, Every body from our band had a great time, the people were great, on
stop headbang, mosh pit was a motivation for us to be as much as wild and play
better. Kick to the monitor at the last song and the aftermath of that there
were some issues and problems with the Sound system company, organizers and the
whole concert but the problem was solved and the concert went great late. KUDOS
to the summer fest organizers we hope for much more better concerts and events
here in Kathmandu in the future.
Even after the clash both the
band and the sound company solved the issue on the stage which is a good sign
of professionalism. Trust me you guys delivered much than what i expected.
Like
the old sayings, Sound System Company and bands are two sides of a coin haha, they
need us we need them, and yes that is what we thought that time and that was
the right thing to do what we did.
Well, I
think its all Inspired by friends, the whole metal scene, wildness that is in
the music attracted me towards this music. Everything is loud and crazy in metal,
I used to listen to music of CCR, Doors, Bryan Adams, Queen, before but friends
of mine encouraged me to listen to music such as system of a Down, Pantera,
Black Sabbath, Megadeath, Slayer that is where it all began there was no looking
back, and still i am struggling to continue my journey in metal music.
Coming back to Fullstop i
appreciate the bands stage presence and I found a one key strong point of the
band that is making the audience part of it. I think this is a core power of
the band after the music.
Sounds good. By the way you guys
toured to some parts beyond Kathmandu share us
your experience?
We are
the first ever metal band to play live in Palpa, it was a great experience, the
respect we get from the people, the people themselves, the organizers, everything
was great, we were amazed by the number of the people who came just to see us
live, and there was a huge crowd. Touring is always fun. We would love to do it
more often. We have played at a hotel at Butwal, that was a great experience,
fans and people are crazy about live music. People from outside the valley know
how to rock n roll.
Well that’s for sure. Prashant
tell us how do you feel about the current situation of our scene?
Finally
it feels good to know that it’s growing. Well a little larger amount of people
than before for gigs indoor or outdoor, International bands performing live in
Nepal that is a great massive thing, lots of positive things to stick with
metal and carry on, its good, the struggle is still intact.
That’s for sure today’s hardwork
shall be a gateway for future. By the way Prashant any message to the fans?
Our
fans are awesome you guys are definitely and rightfully the real rockstars. Keep
supporting and always keep on guessing because there will always be surprises, many more crazy things and for the haters, its hard to form a band, practice
hard play free gigs if necessary. We do it with our passion and full strength, if
you like us it’s our honor that would be a very great things for us to have
fans and people who love us ,we thank you anytime. For the people who don't
like us, we don't give a fuck you can go and lick chimpanzee's sack. Keep
supporting metal and let’s make metal a huge thing all over our country Nepal .
Jay Metal Jay Fullstop.
Well we are at the end now. I
hope the album is almost ready and personally i keen to grab the CD soon. So
wrapping up with this question a space for you to ask if we SNRMB team has
forgotten to ask or anything you want to say. Space all yours.
We are
still working on our album, we would like to make it a perfect one and we are working hard to do so, you will get it very soon. Well there is nothing more to
answer i guess haha and at the end, yes i would like to say that SNRMB is doing
a great job, keep up with it, we would like to see it as a next big thing in metal,
the junction point of metal, the blog of metal, the history of metal and
everything about underground music, Cheers SNRMB deserves a huge round of applause,
Cheers guys.
Thank you for your valuable time Prashant.

pleasure is all mine, thank you very much.
