Here’s a little interview we had with Burning Democracy

So tell us something about your band?
Burning Democracy is a thrash metal band hailing from Dhaka, Bangladesh, formed in mid 2012, the first year was more of finding out the strengths and chemistry and the perfect line-up for the band, and the emergence started with a local band competition called King of The Ring (KOR).

How did the band form and can you tell us about the line up?
The band was formed when Nephilim and Warhammer met each other through social networking and then Sazid and Tonmoy Joined in the pit. We had a bit of struggle finding a dedicated lead guitarist. Finally we found Nibir who was a friend of Tonmoy.
And the current line-up goes-
Nephilim- Rhythm Guitars
Nibir- Lead Guitars
Sazid- Bass Guitars
Tonmoy- Vocals
Warhammer- Drums

Which bands influence your music?
We, as a band, are more influenced by Teutonic Thrash Metal bands Sodom, Kreator and Destruction. But Individually each member has his own influences which makes our sound our identity.

How many shows have you done so far?
We haven't done too many shows, have been concentrating more on composing original tracks and planning about releases. Prior to KOR, we did only one show, and after KOR we did 3 more local gigs.

So, any project in the pipeline?
Yeah, we're working on our fourth original track and polishing up our third one, planning to hit the studios soon after the East Bengal Onslaught and release a demo or an extended playlist.

How is the scene over there? What are the good bands and good gigs?
The scene over here is pretty big as u can see a lot of organizers arranging lot of gigs, too many bands trying to rise and working hard, puts up a pretty competitive scene in Bangladesh. Although I'd say metal still has a long way to go in Bangladesh.
For good bands, the list is pretty big actually. Senior bands like Powersurge, Orator, Severe Dementia are the few most influential bands of Bangladesh. There is Mirrorblaze, Gene-split, Poizon Green. Then there are our brothers Dissector, Thrash, Homicide, Enmachined, Abominable Carnivore, Jahilliyah, who are extremely good at what they do.

As we all know scene is also evolving there like that of Nepal. what kind of obstacles you guys have to face there to put up a metal band which the society considers pain in the ears?
What society?? Revolution has its price, or else, it is not a revolution. Why the heck should we even give a damn about the society that fails to appriciate the truth that we speak through our songs? A society that fails to recognize the truth that they've always tried to hide beneath the mask of so called "civilization", the best that these people can do is think negatively about us, talk behind our back, and yeah at best "Bomb/ Decapitate" us, but that that can never stop revolution.

You guys are aware of Nepali scene as well? Tell us one band from here as well as Bangladesh who are sure to rise in the future?
From Nepal, I'd like to summon Bidroha. Damn! They are good!!! Suffer Till Death all the way. From Bangladesh, well, the possibilities are way too much for everyone, i'd rather put all of'em on the same stage.

Is there any good/funny memory during or after the show that you would like to share with our readers?
Yeah... Well, me and our bassist Sazid wear glasses, and in each and every show, after the performance is finished, we've to look for our glasses on the ground, if u know what i mean.

How excited are you guys for East Bengal Onslaught? What do you have to say about the folks from Bangladesh Metal Alliance? How are they promoting your band?
East Bengal Onslaught is The big break for us. Performing on the same stage with the mighty Orator and Powersurge, and the other bands, we've been on adrenaline since we got selected for the gig. BMA folks are the torchbearers of the metal scene in Bangladesh. They are doing everything possible to make the scene better.
